Lofty columns of verdant green,

Mixed in with the occasional sheen

Of blackened leaves here and there,

Beckoning me to take the dare

Of walking down their valleys keen…

Needled foliage extended wide,

Trying very hard to hide

The weary travelers seeking shade,

Quenching their thirst of late

Of walking down their valleys keen…

Evening birds returning home

Fill the sky’s vermilion dome,

Lark and rook and hawk and dove

Enrich the trees with mortals’ love

Of walking down their valleys keen.
